My name is Emma Teff, and I have been riding horses since I was 7 years old. I got introduced to dressage when I was 10 years old after I got my first horse, Dakota. Dakota inspired my passion for dressage, and I am happy that he is still living at home with me enjoying the retired life. Dakota and I were successful at Training and First Level, but an injury sidelined him. When I was 13, I had the opportunity to compete at Lamplight Equestrian Center in the USEF Dressage Seat Medal Finals. It was an incredible experience for me because it was the first time I witnessed kids riding at the FEI levels.
Last year, I began my new partnership with my new horse, Rainier. I hope to be able to compete him in the FEI Junior and Young Rider divisions. I am an active member of the Western Pennsylvania Dressage Association as the Junior Educational Chair on the Junior Board. I attend Dressage4Kids Youth Dressage Festival every year (well for 5 years), and it is by far my favorite show. It really motivates me to improve.
Dressage4Kids has provided many educational opportunities for youth, including myself. In addition to YDF, I have also attended TEAM clinics and the Weekend Equestrian Program in the winter. I am beyond excited to be participating in the Winter Intensive Training Program, train hard, and learn as much as I can. A huge thank you to Dressage4Kids, The Dressage Foundation, and my parents for making this possible. Also, thank you to my trainer Krista Tycho-Noone for preparing me for this experience of a lifetime.
